Benny Berry

Benny Berry is quite a phenomenon. He has wowed  audiences in America since 1971. he has turned down major record deals which have made others almost overnight successes. His Love for the simple family life has kept he happy, but has also kept the majority of the world from sharing his wonderful talent. Benny was gaining  swift recognition in European countries while on Hawk records (Ireland).  A few years ago he suddenly stopped recording and his appearances. It seems his personal convictions were telling him he should be singing gospel music. He still doing that to this day.

While on Hawk four albums were release. All but his first was produced by his long time friend Mike Headrick, whom he grew up with and formed his first country band. Mike has a collection of previous unreleased  material on Benny and can occasionally persuade him to record a new song. After the know albums on Hawk and the one Gospel cd Salt Of The Earth  Benny  has done very few Recordings which were made available to the public. The recordings he has done have either been Gospel or Country. The Cd  Salt Of The Earth  was first produced and recorded in Nashville by Don King on the Benchmark Label. In 1995 Benny was approached by Tom Long. former relations person for ASCAP, to Sign a management contract (which Benny did). Tom shopped Benny to the  Christian satellites of the major labels and for some reason never  landed a deal for him. Tom made arrangements to re-release the  Salt Of The Earth  cd with changes.

Some of the old songs were deleted and four new songs were recorded. Two singles from the cd were then released to American Christian Country Stations only. Benny had a #3 and a #1 from that album. On the (Christian/Positive Country
Chart.) That was in the 1997. Since that time interest seems to have waned  and Benny hasn't heard from Tom in a few months. Benny has a group of local musicians including his wife Joyce who sings harmony with him. His stage sound is very simple with accent on definitely on vocals. Benny's Acoustic guitar is most of the instrumentation. They play. to church congregations  and perform at many fund raisers and benefit shows. Benny has never had any children of his own. But has recently accepted custody of a baby girl and is experiencing the joys of fatherhood for the first time. He lives in a new home he built himself. He continues to write when inspiration falls upon him and has not lost his love for good simple
country music.    Click Here to visit his Official Website. Where you can order some his music.
