Roger Wallace is without a doubt
one of Texas' best kept secrets. When he wanted to
get in to music he didn't head to Nashville but to the
new capitol for country music which is proving to
be Texas. On this his 3rd cd you will find a mix
of good solid music. Pure Honky Tonk , Two steppers.
two that remind me a tiny bit of big band
meets "Bob Wills" While Nashville is
putting out the same sappy feel good and first
loves songs some so sweet it isn't safe for diabetics to
listen. Just one listen to Roger Wallace's "The
Low Down" and you will see what is missing from
most all of country music as a whole.
It kicks off with the Title
cut "The Low Down" a nicely
done song about a man who finally realizes his new
girl friend is stepping out on him. He finally learns
"The Low Down" Next up is a duet with
"Toni Price" a well blended sound
with their voices mixing nicely . The others songs that
jump out at me are "Your A Heavenly Thing"
this one has a bit of big band flare with some Bob Wills
in it. to me at least. "So Long (Be
Gone)" is a Dwight Yoakam style number that
really comes out. The song that makes me really
take notice is "What Did I Do (The
Teardrop Song)" The haunting arrangement
and Roger's smooth vocals wrap around each
word. and is my favorite on this cd. Next up is an
instrumental number that showcase's Roger's talent on
the guitar The next cut that is outstanding
is "Me and Abalina Jane"
another one that just really cooks with more Bob
Wills meets big band. This is one cd you will not
want to miss. It contains pure country There isn't a
sappy song on it. Roger wrote 6 songs on this 12 cut cd.
and plays acoustic guitar on it. You can order
